COTTONWOOD FALLS — Christmas comes early in Chase County for the annual Chase County Christmas held in Cottonwood Falls on Saturday.
The day kicks off with a Lions Club Breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Emma Chase Cafe in downtown Cottonwood Falls. There will be a remembrance service at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
“It’s very healing,” said Chase County Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Zeiner. “The holidays are so hard when you’ve lost somebody.”
Also at 10 a.m. is the Fabulous Fruit Cake Toss at the Millstream Motel, Cottonwood Falls.
“They always have a bonfire,” Zeiner said. “It’s just really laid back. If you’ve ever wanted to go fling something in a giant sling shot, that is your day. There are hundreds of fruitcakes, some of them go all the way across the river and some land in the river...”
