Lebo
The Coffey County Republican reported that Donna Berland and Jim Stukey were present at the Lebo City Council meeting on Nov. 3 to discuss the possibility of Lebo having a mural like other communities in Coffey County. Coffey County Economic Development has set aside $2,000 for a mural project. Anyone interested in the project is being asked to bring photos, stories and possible location sites to Lebo City Hall before Jan. 1.
Waverly
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Lebo-Waverly USD 243 Board of Education accepted Superintendent Allen Pokorny’s resignation when it met in session on Nov. 10. Pokorny will stay with the district through June 30, 1009.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that Coffey County commissioners met recently to accept bids for lumber and material as well as plumbing and mechanical work on a new landfill office and scale house at the Coffey County Sanitary Landfill. The 1,200-square-foot wood-frame building will have restrooms and a shop area.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Burlington USD 244 Board of Education is looking for a new superintendent after Dale Rawson announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2008-09 school year. He has been superintendent since July 1, 2000.
