Election thanks

WOW, what an election! This November’s election was one for the record books, but it does not happen without a lot of help.
First, I have to give credit to my staff who worked the election: Lanny Linebarger, deputy clerk; Joe Torres, election technician; Roxanne Ashlock, election deputy; Jackie Diller; Barbara Stevenson, Jeannie Bradshaw and Mary Lou Pearson. Then next I want to thank all 135 pollworkers who were on the front line of democracy and did their job well. Behind the scenes was Betty Rust, our telephone operator, who was on duty at 6 a.m. and until the last board worker was in. And security, who helped in many ways and stayed on duty until all board workers were in. Also, I would like to thank my husband, Jerry, who worked every election helping supervising judges carry in their supplies.
Last but not the least, The Emporia Gazette and Emporia Radio Stations got out information on various items in a very timely manner. Their dedication helped things go smoother for the voters and our workers. This was a high-profile election and I feel the community as a whole should feel proud that we do it right in Lyon County!
