THANK YOU, Emporia Gazette, for the pictures of Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden celebrating in Grant Park.
I was in Chicago on V.J. Day in World War II, with other nurses from Newman Hospital. Five of us , escorted, went downtown to celebrate. We lived on the south side and worked in Chicago Lying-In Hospital, part of University of Chicago.
That was a great, happy memory for me. However, I was happy to get back to dear old Kansas. The war was nearly over.
