Christmas is right around the corner, and soon downtown Emporia will be bustling with holiday activities.
The first activity to kick off the season will be the annual holiday carriage rides. The rides begin on Dec. 4 and will run from 5 to 8 p.m., weather permitting, on Dec. 4; Dec. 11; Dec. 18. Ticket sales begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Farmers Market kiosk in the parking lot at Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street. Tickets are $5 a person..
Breakfast with Santa will be the next event and will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Emporia Public Library.
Kris Kringle’s Kids Shoppe follows on the other events’ heels and will kick off on Dec. 10. The Kids Shoppe features affordable gifts for children to shop with the Main Street Elves. All items are priced at $10 or less and there will be free gift wrapping and an appearance by Santa. The shoppe will be at 725 Commercial St., and will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 10, Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Isn't the parade the first downtown activity? Shouldn't the article have listed the dates and times for that?

Yes, the parade is Dec. 2; it is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. All of the events in the article are sponsored by Emporia Main Street.
