Madison rewarded for LCL title on all-league team

No one in the Lyon County League was in Madison’s class this season, a fact reflected in the league champions’ showing in the All-Lyon County League football team.
Ten first-team spots went to the Bulldogs, who mercy-ruled nine of their opponents during a run of 11 straight victories before their season-ending 24-0 loss at Baileyville last Saturday in the 8-Man I semifinals.
Madison had a selection at every position group on the offensive team. Junior quarterback Henry Ott was selected as the LCL’s signal-caller, and senior Michael Luthi joined Garrett Breech of Flinthills and Jacob Goodwin of Marais des Cygnes Valley as the league’s first-team running backs. Senior Caleb Hamilton was selected as the LCL’s wide-receiver, and sophomore tight end Dylan Barnard was one of two first-team selections at that position. Sophomore lineman Shane Ballard also earned a first-team nod, and Barnard was selected as the first-team kicker.
Luthi earned a first-team selection at defensive end, as did linebacker Wade Elwood, and the Bulldogs swept the All-LCL secondary, with Hamilton and Ott both earning selections.
Despite a dismal 3-6 season at Lebo, the Wolves earned four first-team selections. Junior defensive lineman Dylan Montgomery earned a selection and senior Adam Laflin joined Luthi as the first team’s other defensive end. Junior linebacker Calvin Perry was selected at linebacker, and Montgomery was also selected for the offensive line.
Hartford senior punter Logan Grieder was the only Jaguar selected for the first team. The Jaguars did have five selections to the second team: Colby Gardner on the defensive line and at kicker, Tommy Smith at linebacker, Grieder at tight end and Adam Ewy at running back.
