The Emporia Municipal Band will give a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Emporia Granada Theatre, 807 Commercial St. Donations will be accepted to help the band with their free concerts in the park during the summer.

Bethel dinner

The annual Harvest Supper for the Bethel community will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the schoolhouse. Each family is to bring a side dish, dessert and table service. The Pep and Progress community Unit will provide the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and beverage. After dinner, the Emporia dispatch center will give a 911 training presentation.

Thanksgiving dinner

The Olpe United Methodist Church will serve a free Thanksgiving Meal from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. The menu features ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, noodles, cranberry salad and desserts. The meal is to thank people for “all the wonderful volunteer labor, financial support, prayers and good will for the Olpe UMC,” stated the news release. An addition to the church was built to add handicapped restrooms, a new kitchen, space for meetings and a study for the pastor. The objective was to provide a place for family gatherings, the children’s program and a meeting place for church and community gatherings. Many fundraiser meals were served to help pay for the addition.
