Tavern With a Plan

Saturday, November 1, 2008

Special theme nights and catered-in food are among the offerings at The Eclipse bar, 10 West 11th Ave.

Laura and Wilfredo Sandoval and Grace Wessel opened the bar on Oct. 1 in the site of the former Three Amigos bar.

“We’ve made it into a hip-hop club for Wednesday through Friday,” Laura Sandoval said. “Then on Saturdays, we have a tropical night where we play hip-hop and Mexican music, just a mixture of everything.”

The Eclipse serves beer and mixed drinks and, on special nights, will have food catered in from UP’ers Diner and from Marcelo’s Restaurant, which recently opened in the former El Palenque restaurant building.

Sandoval, who grew up in Osage City and moved here last October, said she expects UP’ers will bring in foods like ribs or pulled pork, brisket, beans and fries. Marcelo’s likely will cater in tacos or other Mexican foods. The cost will be $7 to $8 per plate, depending upon what it contains.

The foods will be available on Monday evenings for the Monday Night Football broadcast and for other special events. Games will be broadcast on a large projection screen.

Sandoval said the bar also can be booked for birthday and other parties, pay-for-view wrestling matches and other special events.

For more information, call Laura Sandoval, (785) 969-0315.
