Summer Food Program

The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:

BREAKFAST

Monday: cereal bar.

Tuesday: s’more turnover.

Wednesday: breakfast burrito.

Thursday: cinnamon toast crunch crisps.

Friday: pancake pod.

LUNCH

Monday: mini corn dogs, Spartan fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.

Tuesday: pizza tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.

Wednesday: turkey fritter, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, corn, peach half.

Thursday: crispitos, nacho chips with cheese sauce, tossed salad, strawberries.

Friday: grilled cheese sandwich, tater tots, baby carrots and dip, pineapple.

Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.

Friendship Meals

Emporia

Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.

Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.

These meals will be served next week.

Monday: spaghetti with meat sauce, Italian vegetables, Texas toast, fruit cup.

Tuesday: taco salad with cheese, lettuce and sliced tomato, corn chips, mandarin oranges.

Wednesday: turkey roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, California-blend vegetables, wheat roll, cherry crisp.

Thursday: sweet and spicy pork, rice, Caribbean-blend vegetables, wheat bread, rosy applesauce.

Friday: sloppy joe on a bun, pasta salad, pickled beets, scalloped apples.

North Lyon County

Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.

Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.

These meals will be served next week.

Monday: goulash, broccoli, wheat bread, peaches, cookie.

Tuesday: oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, beets, bread, strawberry shortcake.

Wednesday: ham, baked sweet potato, mixed vegetables, grapes.

Thursday: turkey slice, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread dressing, carrots, hot roll, creamy orange salad.

Friday: taco salad with chips, lettuce and tomato, brownies, applesauce.
