Graduates inducted into honor society

Eighteen Flint Hills Technical College students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society during a luncheon before commencement exercises on May 17.
To be inducted, students must have a 3.75 grade point average, be graduating with their technical certificate or associate of applied science degree, nominated by an instructor and be in good standing with the college.
Students inducted included: Hannah Ast of Emporia, dental assisting; Jessica Barrett of Emporia, business administrative technology; Jennifer Benton of Hartford, business administrative technology; Chelsea Blaufuss of Emporia, dental assisting; Henry Clark of Emporia, industrial engineering technology; Aaron Collins of Waverly, computer program design and development; Kelly Hutchinson of Council Grove, practical nursing; Jason Lankton of LeRoy, power plant technology; Sanjuana Le of Emporia, business administrative technology; Mayra Lemus of Emporia, business administrative technology; John Pendlay of Reading, industrial engineering technology; Juan Ramirez of Emporia, industrial engineering technology; Earl Robinson of Wilsey, industrial engineering technology; Rob Schafer of Baldwin City, power plant technology; Wes Shepherd of Emporia, machine tool technology; Fred Spaulding of Council Grove, industrial engineering technology; Daniel Stair of Emporia, machine tool technology; and John Treat of Hartford, machine tool technology.
The purpose of the National Technical Honor society is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, career development and skilled workmanship among the technical students of America; to reward meritorious achievement in technical education; to encourage and assist technical students in their pursuit of educational and career goals; to develop a greater awareness within the American business, industry, and service communities about the talents and abilities of students engaged in technical education, to provide technical students with a greater awareness of the world of work.
