Need money for competition
A team of six 4-H members who qualified for the International Daisy BB Gun Championship Shoot will hold two fundraising events before they go to the competition in Bowling Green, Ky., July 3 through 6.
Gambino’s Pizza will donate 20 percent of its dine-in, carry-out, or delivery sales from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Flyers about the event are available from team members or at the Lyon County Extension Office.
The team will have a garage sale and bake sale in the Guion/Tyson parking lot at Sixth Avenue and Prairie from noon until 8 p.m. Friday. Donations also will be accepted. Team members are Jessica and Megan Hilbish, Jamie Schmidt, Danny Anderson, Austin Gordon and Wyatt Bolen.
Church sale
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Youth Driveway Sale will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Lunches in Reading
The Reading United Methodist Church Lunch Bunch will serve lunch at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays in June for the cost of $5 each. The dates and foods are:
• June 2 — Barbecued beef sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, cookies and ice cream.
• June 9 — Pork roast, au-gratin potatoes, green beans, rolls, cake and ice cream.
• June 16 — Pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, cake and ice cream.
• June 23 — Ham loaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, cookies and ice cream.
• June 30 — Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, rolls, pie and ice cream.
All foods are homemade by the Reading United Methodist Women.

I've eaten there. The food is outstanding and you won't leave hungry! I think they use the proceeds to purchase school
supplies for the students at Reading Elementary. It's a
win-win situation.
