Animal adoption
The H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund will host an adoption event from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Buck Fund Dog Park.
All adoptable dogs available from the Buck Fund will be present to meet the public. Weather permitting, Buck Fund volunteers will host this event the last Saturday of every month during the spring, summer and fall.
Vehicle tags
Friday is the last day to renew vehicle registrations for people whose last names begin with E, F or G. Proof of insurance is required for all vehicles. The motor vehicle office in the Lyon County Courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Reading alumni banquet
The Reading High School Alumni Banquet will be held June 7 at the school gymnasium, beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. in the commons area. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium, after which there will be a special program. Any person who attended or worked at Reading High School is welcome, along with guests. The classes of 1938, 1948, 1958, 1968 and 1978 will be honored. Reservations are $11 each person and must be sent to Joan Lauber, 9074 W. Highway K170, Osage City, KS 66523 no later than Friday. Summer hours
The Resource Center for Independent Living, 625 Merchant St., Room 238, will observe summer office hours beginning Tuesday through Aug. 29. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
