The Flint Hills Community Health Center will partner with the Kansas Children’s Service League on a program designed to help families with young children. Lougene Marsh, executive director of the center, said this morning the center’s board of directors approved the partnership at its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon.
In April, representatives from the Kansas Children’s Service League gave a presentation to the board about the league’s Healthy Families program. The Healthy Families program is an extensive family support home-visitation program. It is intended to fill a gap for those families who don’t qualify for other programs. The only requirement to receive help under Healthy Families is that the child is the first or second-born child. There are no income requirements for the program. The Kansas Children’s Service League has come up with the matching funds to support the program.
In other business Tuesday, the board adopted the center’s 2009 budget. Marsh said this morning the major changes in the budget include the expansion of the dental clinic and salaries for the additional staff needed to support the expansion. The center also is planning on implementing electronic medical records in 2009.
“There’s a capital expenses of around $120,000 to get all the required equipment and there’s the ongoing cost,” Marsh said.
