Aquatic Center Season Begins Saturday

Nothing says summer like spending time in a pool.
Emporia’s Jones Aquatic Center opens Saturday with a special Opening Day Swim from noon to 8 p.m. Everyone purchasing a regular-price admission will receive a half-price coupon to use later.
The aquatic center is open during the summer from noon to 6 weekdays and noon to 8 p.m. weekends. Admission costs $4.50 for adults age 16 and older and $2.50 for children age 5 to 15. Children under 4 are free with a paid adult admission and all children under 7 years old must be accompanied by someone at least 16 years old. Discount cards are available from the center and at the Lee Beran Recreation Center, 313 W. Fourth Ave.
Other special events at the aquatic center include:
• Lap swimming is from 6 to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning Monday and running until Aug. 8. Cost is $1 or a 22-punch card can be purchased for $20.
• Friday nights are for family swimming from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for a family of up to 4 people and 50 cents for each additional person. The first family swim is June 6.
• Swim lessons run June 16-26, June 30-July 10 and July 14-24 for all ages and levels. For times and information, call 340-6300 or check at the pool.
