Just not getting it

s made regarding the proposed one-cent sales tax increase that is being considered for Lyon county. For an elected official to have the attitude and feeling that it is not their job to listen to the people who elected them, but it is just their job to do things is not only irresponsible, but it is also negligent of their official duties. I am referring to the recent Gazette article about the tax increase proposal. When it was brought up that maybe there should be more public comment, all Mr. Davis could worry about was the fact that some residents of the county might have some opposition to the increase. It appeared that it was the old “Let’s not listen to what people want, let’s just do what we want.” I sure do hope the voters of Lyon County took notice of the comments and attitudes that were shown during the discussion of the tax increase.
Up until three years ago, I was a 30-year resident of Lyon County. However, now I have no regrets about my move. I have not had a reason to interact with the commission that currently represents me, but I am confident that they will be more concerned with the voters that they represent. Residents and voters of Lyon County, beware.
