Wednesday

• The Emporia City Commission will hold an action meeting at 7 p.m. in the city commission room/municipal court room in the Civic Auditorium.

• The Lyon County Commission will hold its weekly study session at 8 a.m. in the commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse.

Thursday

• The Lyon County Commission will hold its weekly action meeting at 8 a.m. in the commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse.

• Keep It a Safe Summer, an annual event that shows kids how to stay safe and still have fun during the summer, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.

Friday

• The Class 2-1A State baseball tournament begins at Soden’s Grove. At 11 a.m., Pittsburg Colgan takes on Spearville. Plainville plays Sedan at 1:30 p.m.; Cottonwood Falls plays St. Marys at 4 p.m.; and Moscow takes on Canton-Galva at 6:30 p.m.

• The Class 2-1A state softball tournament begins at Trusler Sports Complex. At 5 p.m., Sylvan-Lucas Luray plays Sedan, while on the other side of the bracket, Udall takes on Southwestern Heights. At 7 p.m., Spearville plays St. Marys and Pittsburg Colgan squares off against Humboldt.

Saturday

• The Class 2-1A state baseball tournament continues at Soden’s Grove. Semifinal matchups will be at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the championship game will be at 5:30 p.m.

• The two semifinals of the 2-1A state softball tournament each begin at 10 a.m. at Trusler Sports Complex. The championship game will be held at 1 p.m.

Monday

• Memorial Day activities will be held all over Lyon County. Details, including times and places, will be announced later.
