Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Literary League meets at 12:30 p.m. for a picnic at the Howe House, with arrangements by Merle Peterson and Ann Riggs. A tour and history of the Howe House will be given by Joyce Kennedy.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday during May at Coach’s, 2702 W. 15th Ave. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets for dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Little Red School House, which is 3.5 miles east of Emporia on Road 175 (old Highway 50). Carpoolers will meet at 6 p.m. in the parking lost behind Designs by Sharon. The speaker will be the caretaker, who will give a tour of the building and the history of the old school. Those interested in attended the meeting can call Carol Stephens at 757-9466 for reservations.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
The Emporia Gardeners of America Club meets at 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday for coffee at Hastings. The regular meetings are now held at 7p.m. the third Thursday of each month with locations to be announced in the Agenda column.
The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
The Senior Singles group for 50+ singles desiring Christian fellowship meets at noon the third Wednesday of every month at the Regency Gardens restaurant of Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. There is usually a program. Information: 342-6186.
Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
The Emporia Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St. The program, “Photographing Kansas,” will be given by Dave Leiker. The membership showing will be macro shots. “Garden Photography” is the tech tip. Andrew Spencer is the host. The annual Camera Club Print Show will be held at the ESU Beach Music Hall from June 1 through July 31.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar” talk, coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
