In Emporia, some 220 members give time, energy and talent to our hospital through Newman Regional Health Auxiliary. At the hospital, one sees women in pink, men in red and young candy stripers doing many different jobs to assist patients and hospital staff under the guidance of coordinator Janet Haag. We know that it makes a difference.
The hospital shows appreciation in many ways. Recently, they gave a recognition luncheon and entertainment at the West Campus of the Presbyterian Church.
As a member of the Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas state board, I have had the opportunity to visit many hospitals in the state. We should be proud of our hospital’s board, staff, facilities and the volunteers for the quality care we have in Lyon County.
New volunteers are always welcome. Contact coordinator Janet Haag at 343-6800, ext. 2525 to sign on. Martin Luther King Jr. said “Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve.” And past president George Bush stated, “My definition of a successful life must include service to others.” Local volunteers appreciate this opportunity to serve.
