On behalf of the Las Casitas Association, we would like to thank everyone who volunteered or participated in the 10th Anniversary of the Cinco De Mayo celebrations last weekend. We were very pleased with the turnout, despite the windy and rainy conditions on Saturday.
We would especially like to thank the members of the Emporia Police Department for going out of their way to ensure a fun and safe festive weekend. Also, we would like to thank the city of Emporia for the addition of the new sidewalk down South Avenue which was used throughout the weekend. We overheard many comments about how nice the sidewalk was by locals and out-of-towners.
A Topeka news media correspondent commented on how friendly the Emporia Hispanic community is, and that they enjoyed seeing a mixed crowd of friendly people at the celebration overall. Plus, the recent additions made that part of town look very nice and wholesome.
We would also like to thank those people who helped with the cleanup and assisted some of the vendors when the winds came a-blowing. It makes one feel good that Emporia can be well represented and thought of highly by others outside our city.
Muchisimas gracias Emporia!
