Business students win awards

Students from Flint Hills Technical College returned this week after a whirlwind trip to Reno, Nev., for the National Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America. Julie Cooper, business administrative technology instructor, attended the conference as a student advisor.
Business Professionals of America is a national co-curricular career and technical organization for high school, college and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology. Individual student and faculty results included:
• Lannie Lyman, Durango, CO — Ambassador Torch Award
• Stacy Muse, Olpe — Ambassador Torch Award and Top 10 Finalist - Insurance Concepts
• Samantha Aikman, Hamilton — Top 10 Finalist - Keyboarding
• Tyson Hinrichs, Emporia — Top 10 Finalist - Information Technology Concepts and Network Design Team
• Steve Stone, Madison — Top 10 Finalist - Network Design Team
Karen Christy, division chair for information technology and arts and computer program design and development instructor received an award for 10 years of service as a BPA advisor. Larena Grieshaber, business administrative technology instructor, was recognized as a Classroom Educators Advisory Council member.
