The Emporia High girls soccer team had its season end Tuesday night with a 1-0 loss to McPherson in the second round of Regionals in McPherson.
McPherson (13-3-1) held on for the victory after scoring the only goal of the game in the 27th minute, while Emporia could never get going offensively.
The Lady Spartans managed just four total shots, only two of which were shots on goal.
“We just didn’t get the scoring opportunities we needed to get,” EHS coach John Decker said. “We didn’t play a good first half, and even though we came back and fought in the second half, we just couldn’t get the ball in the net.
“Of course, the senior are always who you feel the worst for. I was proud with how the girls played the second half, things just didn’t go our way in the first half.”
Emporia High ends its season with a 10-7-1 record.
