Chase County softball falls in Regionals

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

The Chase County softball team ended its season Tuesday night with a 3-2 loss to Valley Falls in the semifinals of Regional play at Wabaunsee.

Chase County actually took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Kylee Scott knocked a two-run homer over the fence to give Chase County the early advantage.

That score would hold until the top of the fifth inning before Chase County committed three errors with two outs that allowed Valley Falls to plate all three of its runs — all unearned. Chase County had an opportunity to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth with one out when Taylor Rains tripled. But Chase County was unable to get Rains home, and the Lady Bulldogs went on to fall just short.
