Singles player Chris Reimer and the doubles team of Brandon Heavener and Jonathan Roman each made it to the seventh-place match of the Class 5A State tennis tournament in Wichita on Saturday, with Reimer coming away with a victory to place seventh while Heavener and Roman suffered a loss to finish eighth.
Reimer got a little bit of revenge in his match for seventh place, as he ended his season with a 9-4 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas’ Phil Shinn, who earlier on Friday defeated Reimer in the first round, 6-1, 6-3.
In the seventh-place match in doubles play, Heavener and Roman dropped a 9-2 match to Bishop Carroll’s Kevin Klein and Jordan Keller.
The Spartans as a team finished in a tie for sixth place with Winfield, totaling 11 points.
