A month ago, Emporia State’s Matt Koelling had surgery to repair meniscus in his knee.
The junior completed his recovery at the ATG Sports Last Chance Qualifier Meet at Welch Stadium on Saturday.
In only his second outdoor meet of the year, Koelling earned a spot at Nationals by leaping 49 feet, 1 3/4 inches in the triple jump.
The mark moved Koelling up from 25th nationally to No. 12.
