LeRoy
The Coffey County Republican reported that Mayor Bill Freeman told the LeRoy City Council that he attended a county commission meeting with city engineer Hub Caspar to ask for funding to renovate the Union Block buildings, which are in the 600 block of Main in LeRoy. The buildings have been in disrepair for years and the roof has fallen in on one building.
Greenwood County
The Madison News reported that Greenwood County residents from Thrall, southwest of Hamilton to just northeast of Lamont received damage from a reported tornado that touched down a little over a week ago. The tornado took down several barns and outbuildings near Hamliton, Madison and Lamont on May 2. No injuries were reported.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Burlington City Council approved a resolution that adjusts wages and changes the evaluation procedure for the city’s employees. The resolution will bring near a 4 percent increase in wages and salaries, which amounts to an annual increase of $52,412.40.
