Toy Shoppe moves

Friday, May 9, 2008

The Toy Shoppe has moved to a new location in Room 5 at the Kansas Avenue School, 315 S. Market St.

The Toy Shoppe is a program of the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative in which students clean and repair toys and bicycles to redistribute to children in the community. Students also collect new toys that are included in the distribution.

Collection barrels for toy donations can be found at the downtown fire station, Country Mart North, Country Mart South, Wal-Mart, Price Chopper and Family Video.

All types of toys that can be refurbished are needed. This includes dolls, stuffed animals and small bicycles for children. The Toy Shoppe does not accept any type of toy weapons. Large items also will be picked up if prior arrangements are made.

The Toy Shoppe is open from 8:15 to 11 a.m. and from noon to 3:15 p.m. on days that school is in session. For more information or to arrange to have donated items picked up, call Mike McDougald at 341-2325. Items can be picked up during the summer break.
