Students at Lowther South Intermediate School have raised more than $2,500 for the American Heart Association during two fitness events this spring.
Andy Battenfield, Lowther South physical education teacher, said his students collected $2,541.71 in donations through the Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events.
“This is the most of any year that Lowther South has raised since I have been here. We have such a wonderful community where the economy is not the greatest and we can still receive a record number of donations,” Battenfield said.
Top fundraisers for the two events were Becky Hammond, $216.50, Hoops for Heart; and Alex Luthi, $120, Jump Rope for Heart.
