Friday Thoughts is a light-hearted commentary.
THE EMPORIA school superintendent turned 50 years old on Wednesday. Wow! What a historic milestone — to be a half a century old!
Of course, to keep up neighborly relations, we need to get the superintendent a belated birthday present. I wonder what he would like — a cake, a card or how about a little public recognition by putting one of those fun birthday ads in the paper?
In birthday ads, most people like to run cute, grade-school pictures of the birthday person. One of those ads ran in Thursday’s paper, but we think John would really enjoy seeing those funny or not-so-flattering pictures from his high school or crazy college days.
Because we want this to be a surprise, please don’t tell John what we are doing. Just send humorous pictures to webmaster@emporiagazette.com.
