Dayton’s Hobbies & Crafts and Tallgrass Art & Frame Shop are about to go Plum Bazaar.

The two stores now are located at 811 and 813 Commercial St. The stores soon will be moving a couple of blocks down to 615 Commercial St., where they will merge and become Plum Bazaar, said Sally Kelley, co-owner of Dayton’s Hobbies. Dayton’s is owned by Kelley and her sister, Susan Kelley. Tallgrass Art & Frame Shop is owned by another sister, Sara Kelley. The three will form Plum Bazaar, which will have two locations — one in Emporia and one in Branson, Mo.

“We’ll all be in one place,” Sally Kelley said. “We’ll be separate businesses but all in one building.”

The move was necessitated by the impending move of the Emporia Arts Council into the space now occupied by Dayton’s and Tallgrass.

“The arts council wants to be next to the Granada,” Kelley said.

Dayton’s has been in the location at 811 Commercial St. for 31 years. However, the new building will come with more room, hardwood floors and other extras.

Sally and Susan Kelley said they are looking forward to three things with the move.

“New location, new look and new name,” they said.
