According to a report from the Lyon County Sheriff’s office, Octavio Alanis, 23, of Emporia died when the pickup truck he was driving westbound crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 50 and collided with the eastbound semi.
Emergency personnel who responded found the semi on fire in the south ditch.

The semi driver was treated and released with mulitple broken ribs and an injured back. And will now have to live with this for the rest of his life, even though it wasn't his fault. My heart goes out to Mr Burns and his family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Alanis and Burns families. Octavio(OT) was a good friend and like a brother to all of us here in sales at John North and he will be missed.

I knew OT only from attending high school with him, and he was a very nice guy. I pray for his family to find some sort of peace in all of this. May God bless him!

I feel bad that both families have to go through what they are going to go through for the rest of their lives! I know the truck driver and it's unfortunate that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and my heart goes out to him. I hope both families can heal from this in the proper way.

Tavo, was a great kid and a close friend of our family. He will be missed. We shared lots of great memories. May the lord bless the Alanis family and his child he bragged so much about and loved. He always made everyone smile. My sympathy to his parents, family and friends.
Your friends always,
Primo and Family
