Messiah Lutheran Church will have a cook-out next week to help raise money to pay travel expenses for Caide Timmons. Caide, 2 1/2, is in radiation therapy after removal of a brain tumor.

Messiah Lutheran Church will sponsor “Cook Out for Caide,” to raise money for travel expenses for Caide Timmons and his parents, Brandon and Tiffany Timmons.

Caide, 2 1/2, recently had surgery to remove tumors from his brain and must be taken to an Overland Park health clinic five days a week for six weeks for radiation treatments.

The meals, which cost $4 each, may be picked up from the church parking lot, 1101 Neosho St., between 4 and 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The meal includes a hamburger or hot dog, chips, baked beans and beverage.

Checks should be made payable to Messiah Lutheran Church. Supplemental funds have been requested from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, an event flyer stated.

A taco-and-burrito fundraiser held on April 26 far exceeded organizer Alicia Wyatt’s goal of $1,000.

“It actually went really, really well,” Wyatt said.

The event brought in $3,600 for expenses, the equivalent of about 150 dozen tacos and burritos.

LilJHawkFan:

The meal for Caide is from 4-7:30 p.m. on Monday, designed for grabbing on the way home from work.
