The Emporia High girls soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at the hands of Blue Valley on Monday night.
The Lady Spartans managed just two total shots for the game, with both being shots on goal, but EHS could not find the net. On the opposite side, Blue Valley got off eight shots on goal, with three different players scoring goals.
“This was just another tough game, and we came out on the long end of it this time,” EHS coach John Decker said. “They had speed we couldn’t handle, and we couldn’t create much of an attack.”
Blue Valley took the lead in the 20th minute on a goal by Sally Stromme from Brittney Zimmerman, then took a 2-0 lead into halftime when Brianne Burlin knocked home a shot with 17 seconds to go before the break.
Blue Valley put the game out of reach in the 64th minute with its third goal, this one coming from Presley Chrisco.
The Lady Spartans (8-6-1) play their final regular-season game on Wednesday at Topeka High. The varsity game will begin first at 4 p.m. Regional play then begins next week.
