Just two months ago, the Emporia State track and field team had its best performance of the year at the MIAA Indoor Championships.
Coach Dave Harris doesn’t see a reason why that success can’t be repeated at this weekend’s MIAA Outdoor Championships in Maryville, Mo.
“It’s contagious. That’s what happened indoors,” Harris said. “I told them it was the funnest weekend I’ve had in track and field in a long time. The men and women were just feeling a lot of good vibes.
“If we can do that same thing outdoors, it’ll be fun.”
Though ESU only had 14 female athletes in the March 1-2 meet, the women came away with nine event championships and finished second — just 12 points behind first-place Central Missouri.
