Hilary Larson qualified for the State meet on her way to winning the 500 freestyle to lead the Emporia High girls swimming and diving team at the Manhattan Quad on Wednesday.
Larson, who reached State in the 500 last season, went into the meet just .11 seconds off the State- qualifying time in the event, but swam a winning time of 5 minutes, 41.14 seconds to eclipse the State standard by more than 2 seconds.
Led by Larson and a victory by the 200 freestyle relay squad, the Emporia High girls finished third at the four-team meet with 332.5 points. Manhattan won the meet with 409 points, while Washburn Rural was second (379.5) and Hayden was fourth (188).
