The Emporia High softball team dropped two road games to Manhattan on Wednesday, falling in both games, 8-0.
In Game One, Manhattan pitcher Amber Schaffer silenced the EHS bats, allowing just one hit — a third-inning single by Lenae Wells — in the complete-game shutout over the Lady Spartans. Schaffer also collected eight strikeouts.
After totaling a combined 14 hits in two games against Shawnee Heights on Tuesday, EHS coach Ray Owens said the hitting performance against Manhattan was a little baffling.
