Lyon County Commissioner Marshall Miller announced at Saturday’s Eggs & Issues forum that he will not be running for re-election this fall.
Miller publicly made the announcement this morning at the forum, which is sponsored by the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters. This morning’s political forum featured the Lyon County Commission.
Miller said he has made other commitments that have led him to his decision not to run again.
“I’ve made commitments to myself and family members,” he said. “I’m not a candidate.”
Miller has been on the commission since 2001.
“When I started in 2001, the first year we went into recession and I think we’re in a recession now,” Miller said, adding jokingly that maybe there should be some new commissioners on the board because of his time beginning and ending in a recession.

This is a real loss for Lyon County--Marshall Miller has been a positive addition to and a sensible voice on the commission.
