A 31-year-old man has been charged in Lyon County District Court in connection with the shooting death Friday, March 21, of Alfonso Barajas, 50.
Ferman Hernandez will make his first appearance in court at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday on charges of reckless involuntary manslaughter during the commission of a misdemeanor and hunting without a hunter-education certification.
Barajas died after being struck with a bullet from a rifle Hernandez was using.
Assistant County Attorney Amy Aranda said that Hernandez was “trying to shoot a bird in a tree, and the victim was struck by the bullet.”
Hernandez has bonded out of the Lyon County Jail.
