ESU music

The ESU Department of Music is presenting a faculty recital, featuring James Starr at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Heath Recital Hall. At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Brass Concert will perform in Albert Taylor Hall.

The Percussion Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Albert Taylor Hall. General admission is $5; students and senior citizens, $4. Information: 341-5431.

Children’s theater

“The Little Mermaid,” will be performed by the Missoula Children’s Theatre at 7 p.m. April 4 and 2 p.m. April 5. For more information and audition dates, call 343-6473.

Senior prom

An evening of “Dancing with the Seniors” at the senior citizen prom will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Union Ballroom on the ESU campus.

The invitation to “A special evening in your honor” is offered by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee of Emporia State University. Valet parking will be provided by the Lions Club.

Crafters wanted

Craftspersons and artists of all types are invited to enter the Johnson County “Summertime Arts and Crafts Show,” which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 17 in Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road in Merriam. The show will be held in conjunction with the Merriam Turkey Creek Festival. The entry fee is $65 for a 12-foot lawn space and a $5 late free for registrations received after May 1. Historical society

The Lyon County Historical Society presents a “Night at the Museum” at 7 p.m. April 8 at the Lyon County Museum. The guest speaker will be Lowell May, who will talk about the prisoner of war camps in Kansas.

Student Exhibition

The annual Juried ESU Art Student Exhibition will be held from April 7 through May 2 at the Norman R. Eppink Gallery at ESU.

The opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 7. Information: 341-5689.

During the month of April, ESU student works not selected by the jurors of the Annual Juried student exhibition will be on display in The Salon des Refuses exhibit at the Emporia Arts Council, 618 Mechanic St.

EAC hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and by appointment. Information: 343-6473.
