The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors held an officer election during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon, also adding another consumer member to the board.
Lougene Marsh, executive director of the community health center, said this morning that Helen Gibson remains president of the board; Richard Old, vice-president; and Danica Case, secretary/treasurer. Paula Martin was elected the newest consumer board member. Martin’s term starts in April, Marsh said.
The board talked about the dental clinic expansion. Bids will be opened on April 7 and reviewed by the architect. The executive board will meet on April 8 to make a decision on who will be awarded the contract, Marsh said.
The board also got a recruitment update during Tuesday’s meeting.
“We’re still working,” Marsh said. “We feel like we’re making good progress on recruitment of dentists. We’re still working on recruiting a physician.”

F Marsh presented information about a new recognition process through the Sunflower Foundation and the National Committee of Quality Assurance that recognizes centers for being a patient center and medical home.
F The community health center received a plaque that was signed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius recognizing the agency for completing a course on cultural competency by the Kansas Association of Medical Care.
