A nationally known sewing educator will be in Emporia on April 5 for a day-long instruction session that is open to the public.
The presentation by Barbara Rezac, an educator for the Husqvarna Viking company, is sponsored by the Flint Hills American Sewing Guild Chapter.
Rezac will cover a variety of aspects of sewing, serger, embroidery and sewing tips and techniques.
The deadline for early registration is Friday, with a cost of $10 for 4-H members and people under 18, and $20 for adults. The charge includes a morning snack, lunch, and door prizes.
Checks payable to ASG Flint Hills may be sent to Velma Walker, 545 Road 140, Emporia KS 66801. More information is available by calling her at 342-4091.
Rezac has traveled world-wide to provide sewing training and has appeared on “America Sews,” “Quilting With Shar,” which she helps coordinate, and “America Quilts Creatively.” She has taught at International Quilt Market, National Quilts Association shows, and on McCall’s Quilting Cruise, in addition to presenting lectures and trunk shows, teaching at national workshops and seminars and judging clothing.
Rezac holds a Golden Threads certification and is a Certified Serger Instructor with Palmer/Pletsch.
“Whether you do quilting, heirloom, garment, home decorating or craft sewing, you are sure to be inspired,” Walker wrote in a news release.
Rezac’s presentation will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at Ninth Avenue and Merchant Street.
