The truth about beauty
The Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland invites all Emporia area 5th through 8th grade girls, their mothers and sisters to attend “Uniquely ME!,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Emporia Middle School. According to the news release, participants “will learn the true definition of beauty and get tips on how they can lead a healthy lifestyle that boosts their self-esteem.” The program is free and girls do not have to be members of Girl Scouts to attend. The Girl Scouts, along with Project QUEST, will have other activities during the day, including games, cooking, karaoke, dance lessons and body art. Advance registration is required; to make a reservation, call 342-4532 today.
Planning meeting
Hartford Harvest Day will hold their first planning meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the small community building. They will discuss a theme, parade marshall and will want new ideas. The meeting is open to the public.
