Today

The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

The Reading Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Reading Community Building.

Tuesday

P.E.O. Chapter HY meets at 9:30 a.m. with Mary Jo Gallup. Carolyn Turney will give the program, ”What is a Master Gardener?”

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday during March at Bobby D’s Merchant St. BBQ, 697 Merchant St. During April, the group will meet at Casa Ramos, 201 Commercial St. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.

The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

Wednesday

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.

AARP Chapter 285 meets at 11:30 p.m. at the Regency Gardens restaurant. Don Dix will present the program, “The Senior Patrol.” The public is welcome to attend.

Military Order of the Purple Heart meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. Information: Aaron Bura, 342-4381.

Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.

The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Sertoma Club does not meet today.

The Emporia Model Railroad Club meets at 7:30 p.m. at 916 Arundel St. the last Thursday of each month. Those interested in model or prototype railroading are welcome to attend. Information: 343-8325.

Saturday

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
