Reeble anniversary
The year 2008 marks 60 years of business for Reeble Monuments at 1 S. Commercial St., said owner and operator Kerry Wallace, who has been with the company for 13 years. Eight of the Reeble Monuments memorials were recently featured in the national magazine for monument dealers, the Elberton Graniteer. The business now offers laser etching by Flint Hills Laser Expressions and marble from Pyramid Stone, owned by Bob Davis of Olpe.
Insurance award
Beau Goodell recently won the Farm Bureau Financial Services New Career Challenge. The New Career Challenge recognizes agents for outstanding life insurance production during their first 12 months under contract. Goodell is a first-year agent with Farm Bureau Financial Services in Emporia. The New Career Challenge emphasizes the importance of helping to provide financial security to members of the agent’s community, said the news release.
After hours
The Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau will sponsor a Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 1512 W. Sixth Ave. (north entrance). Hosts are Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Flint Hills and Frontier Financial Partners. Reservations are required to attend this event. To register, call 342-1600 or see www.emporiakschamber.org. Once on the Web site, click on the Community Calendar and locate the event you want to attend and register. The reservation deadline is March 25. Business After Hours is a networking opportunity for Chamber members to meet each other and discuss their respective businesses, said the news release. Non-member businesses interested in joining the Chamber of Commerce are invited to attend. A $5 donation for members and their guests and an $8 donation for non-members will be accepted at the door.
Ribbon cutting
The public is invited to the Kansas Children’s Service League ribbon cutting and Klicks for Kids open house being held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 4 at the new office at 402 Commercial St., Suite 123. The ribbon cutting is at 11:30 a.m. with refreshments provided. The KCSL staff will tell visitors about the services they provide in Emporia and the surrounding areas. Visitors will see the Klicks for Kids Gallery of 52 photographs of children in foster care needing adoption and there also will be information about adoption and foster care.
