Newman Regional Health is actively recruiting another urologist for the Emporia area. In the interim, Salina Urology Associates in Salina will provide D. Allen Shrader, a board-certified urologist and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons one day a week to provide urology services for Emporia. Schrader graduated from The University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1970 and did a residency at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He served in the military with the United States Air Force and after 27 years of solo practice in Lewiston, Idaho, he joined Salina Urology Associates.
Salina Urology Associates will have offices at the Central Care Cancer Center, 1401 W. 12th Ave. The urologist will be coming down on Wednesdays to start and additional days as needed. Salina Urology Associates will send an additional urologist if demand warrants, said Justin Branine of Central Care Cancer Center.
“If they’re overwhelmed with (patients) they will come down and even provide us with another urologist,” Branine said.
For urology appointments call Salina Urology Associates at (800) 794-6230.

A urologist also comes down from Topeka to the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington on Thursdays. I'm not sure if it's every Thursday or once a month, though. I just had to take my son there 2 times.
