Emporia Presbyterian Church
The Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St., will have a special service at 7 p.m. Good Friday, featuring an original setting of the seven last words of Christ.
Scriptures will be read and the church Chancel Choir will sing, along with several soloists from the choir. Mary Melhorn will be the accompanist and Don Grant, the director.
The setting was done by Jane Hawes, a member of the choir. The service is open to the public at no charge.
Candidates will be speakers
The Lyon County Democrats meeting will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Best Western Motel, 2031 W. Highway 50.
They will review the caucus. Speakers will be Lee Jones, U.S. Senate candidate; James Bordonaro, 1st District Congress candidate; and local candidates.

Easter eggs at Neosho Rapids
The Neosho Rapids Community Project and Lions Club are sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday east of the Community Center. This event is for children 10 years and younger.
In case of inclement weather, the hunt will be in the old junior high school building. Children are to wear homemade Easter hats, bonnets or caps to enter a contest. Prizes will be awarded.

Bowling for BB/BS
Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Flint Hills are sponsoring an “Old Time Rock-N-Bowl,” the 26th annual Bowl for Kids Sake event from April 3 through April 6 at the Flint Hills Lanes.
Participants are to form teams of four to five bowlers, select a team captain, theme, name and wear 1950’s apparel (optional).
Each team member will receive a pledge sheet after entering and picking one of four times and days to enter: April 3, 8-10, College Bowl Night; April 4, 7-9 p.m., Youth Night; April 5, 6-9 p.m., Community Night; April 6, 1-3 p.m., Agency Day.
Refreshments and contest prizes will be given away each day. The Adult and Youth prize packages are based on the highest amount of pledges received at the event. The deadline for eligibility of these prizes is April 5. Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Flint Hills serves the children in Lyon, Morris, Chase and Coffey counties.
