Spaghetti for dinner

A banquet and play will be presented for the public by the youth of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 730 Sylvan St., beginning with the meal at 5 p.m. Saturday. A spaghetti dinner will be served with various side dishes included. The cost for each person is $4.50; the cost for children five years and younger is $2.50. To make reservations, call the church at 342-8218 or Mrs. Morris at 340-0754. Each telephone has an answering machine. If there is no time to call, people are “certainly welcome” to attend, said the news release.

The play, “The Lost Teen, which begins at 6 p.m., was written by LaShawna Williams, a member of the youth group.

This event is a fund-raiser with proceeds to be used by the Youth Group to attend the annual State Convention in June at Lawrence.

Or fish and brisket

The Olpe United Methodist Church will serve fried fish, brisket, salads, dessert and beverage from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Free will offerings will be accepted, with proceeds to go to the building fund. Information: Pastor Lucille Barb at (620) 475-3863.
