Emporia High senior guard Caydrick Bloomquist earned first-team All-Centennial League honors after helping to lead the Spartans to the Class 5A State Tournament this season.
Bloomquist, a returning All-State pick from a season ago who averaged 21 points per game this season, joined Manhattan’s Jackie Carmichael, Hayden’s Jeff Reid, Highland Park’s Rico Richardson and Washburn Rural’s Justin Werner on the first team, as voted by the league coaches.
Bloomquist set the school record for made 3-pointers in a career this season, as he finished with 221 treys for his career after making 79 this season.
Two other Spartans earned All-League honors, as junior guard Taylor Euler was named to the third team while senior center Troy Pierce landed on the All-Defensive team. Euler averaged 15 points per game this season while Pierce led the Spartans in blocks.
Reid was named the Player of the Year, Carmichael was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Highland Park’s Ken Darting and Hayden’s Ted Schuler were named co-Coaches of the Year after each guided their respective squads to State championships.
