Girls State
The American Legion Auxiliary of Ball-McColm Post 5 is accepting applications for Sunflower Girls State 2008 to be held June 1 through 6 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. There is no cost for the attendees.
Those interested in participating are to see a high school counselor or call Sandy Hammerl at 342-1208 for more information and the application, which is due by March 31.

Buxton report postponed
The city’s public meeting to announce the results of the Buxton retail study of Emporia has been postponed. The meeting had been scheduled for noon today in the Little Theater at the Civic Building.
The meeting has been rescheduled for March 28 at the Mary Herbert Learning Center. The time will be announced.
