Zoo auction
The Friends of the Zoo auction Friday night brought in about $14,000 to help support educational programs and exhibits at the David Traylor Zoo of Emporia.
“It was wonderful, “ said EFOZ President Cindy Detwiler. “We couldn’t have asked for any better, really.”
Zoo office manager Lori Andrews said several couples went together to bid $1,100 for a cocktail party with hosts Duane and Lori Scott Dreiling.
Other top sellers were exhibit sponsorships for Samson the mountain lion, $600; bald eagle, $800; and bison, $350. Turning on zoo Christmas lighting at this year’s
ceremony sold for $200.
