Sharon Sparks, 58, of Strong City was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., on Sunday afternoon for treatment of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 75 at New Strawn.
Ronald E. Sparks, 61, a passenger in the 1997 Ford truck she was driving, was taken to Coffey County Hospital for treatment.
The accident happened about 4:03 p.m. Sunday when a northbound 2008 Toyota SUV crossed the center line and struck the Sparks vehicle in the driver’s side.
The driver of the Toyota, Brett A. Erickson, 28, of Humbolt, also was taken to KU Hospital.
A passenger in his car, Janelle M. Erickson, 26, of Humboldt, was taken to Coffey County Hospital for treatment of possible injuries, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
A spokesman for the medical center said that, because of federal law, he could neither confirm nor deny that either person was at the hospital.
The spokesperson for Coffey County Hospital could not be reached by press time this morning.
